Job Description
The University is about to embark on an exciting project to replace all of its current access control systems and as a result we are recruiting additional fixed term team members to support the delivery of both the project and the development of all other services undertaken by the Security Access Systems Team based in the Card Office on the Plymouth Campus.
Do have experience in and enjoy working with database systems and technical mechanisms such as locks? Do you like the challenge of problem solving, fault finding and carrying out basic repairs? If so then please read on.
Our Security Access Assistants are vital in keeping our buildings safe, secure and operational. They are friendly and diligent and work hard to contribute to the success of the University, no matter what the day brings. As part of a close knit and loyal team, you will be involved in all aspects of maintaining building access systems in a busy front line customer service role.
Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate manual dexterity and experience of operating machinery and hand tools. An understanding of technical drawings and building plans would be advantageous.
As you will be working across our large campus, travelling on foot, a good level of physical fitness will be necessary. You must have GCSE’s in Maths and English, or equivalent. You should also possess clear and accurate verbal and written communication skills and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Outlook/Excel.

A current full driving licence (manual transmission) is essential as you will be driving University of Plymouth vehicles.This role is also subject to health surveillance with our Occupational Health team.

Interviews are likely to take place week commencing Monday 19th February 2024 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position working 8.00am to 16.00pm Monday to Thursday, 8.00am to 15.30pm Fridays and is fixed term until 31st December 2024 due to business demand.
The role will require the postholder to work from campus each day and is not conducive with working remotely.
