Job Description
To be able to work in the Defence and Security sector, individuals must be vetted to an appropriate level so they can work with sensitive material. Reporting to the Security Controller, and based in the Bristol office, you will support the small team managing the clearance and compliance process for employees and contractors by leading on the coordination of the mandatory aftercare activity required to maintain individuals’ security clearances.
This administrative role is an office-based role with some limited opportunity for remote working once fully trained.
Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to undertake additional security screening.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain the security clearance register and ensure all data fields are complete and up to date.
- In accordance with GDPR regulations and Vetting Team data retention policy, conduct data cleansing of files where clearances have been lapsed.
- Generate statistical reports and draft responses to other requests for management information for Defence management in the wider company.
- Maintain the travel register; notify the Security Controller of travel planned to Tier 1 & 2 countries and issue general guidance to those travelling elsewhere.
- Conduct monthly renewal reviews with the wider team.
- Conduct weekly leaver reviews with the wider team.
- Initiate annual aftercare checks and log compliance.
- Initiate and monitor training activity for individuals.
- Assist in wider security related duties and support to associated teams.
REPORTING
This role reports to the Security Controller.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Must pass both Baseline Personnel Security Standard check and UKSV SC clearance – these will be conducted during the probation period and are mandatory for this role.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proactive, resilient and discreet.
- Organised and capable of working independently.
- MS Office 365 proficient.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to quickly develop and maintain good working relationships with key staff.
- Able to build relationships and communicate with people at all levels.
Desirable:
- Experience of working in regulated environments.
- Awareness of the Government Security Classification (GSC) levels.
- Awareness of UKSV processes, security clearance levels and the associated requirements.
- Awareness of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
