Job description: About the role

Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Security Coordinator to join our Regional Buildings team based at our AWE – Reading site.

Within this role you’ll facilitate physical and remote project access, assist with security vetting and clearances. Timely vetting of project personal and supply chain is key to ensure sufficient resources are available to meet programme requirements, whilst also supporting the project team with security issues, identify solutions and resolve within the parameters and security management arrangements as specified by the customer

What you’ll be doing

The main responsibilities within this role are:

Core

  • Day to day responsibility for timely project access, including visits, permits for controlled items and waivers for restricted areas/personnel
  • Assist with security vetting and verification interviews
  • Assist with security clearances as a ListX sponsor (upon completion of probationary period), including reviews, renewals and aftercare
  • Maintain customer mandatory training records
  • Ensure observance of project and site security rules throughout the team and supply chain, ensuring all suspected breaches are recorded and reported to the Security Manager
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation and vetting department timescales, cascade information to the team
  • Support with delivery of regular security Toolbox Talks

Productivity

  • Assist with achieving targets and KPIs in line with Project objectives
  • Support weekly team meetings to review performance on site

Who we’re looking for

The following qualities/experience are essential:

  • Possess or be able to achieve government security clearance
  • Good working knowledge of HMG vetting policy and security classifications, as well as the wider threats to security
  • Ability to enforce security requirements as prescribed by the customer, including Supply Chain cyber security
  • Maintain and support a robust security culture across all levels of personnel
  • Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity
  • Ability to work under pressure to deadlines, with a flexible attitude towards work in order to deal with a variable and demanding workload
  • Excellent team player, able to work competently and independently without supervision
  • Strong communication skills with good interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (MS Word, Excel)
  • Is a self-starter who can manage their own time
  • A good understanding of GDPR principles and application to data sensitivity
