Are you passionate about working with children on the autism spectrum? Join our specialist school for Autism in Colchester as a SEN Teaching Assistant. This role focuses on supporting secondary aged children (11-18) with autism, helping them with everyday tasks, social behaviors, and academic goals.
Responsibilities:

  • Build positive relationships with students, supporting their academic attainment.
  • Assist children with a range of communication needs, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Work with students who may experience social exhaustion and require understanding and patience.
  • Focus on key and functional skills that students can apply beyond the classroom, catering to individual learning capabilities.
  • Provide support and guidance in managing anti-social behavior, while maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Genuine passion for working with vulnerable children, particularly those with autism.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by students with autism and associated complex needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Strong commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of students.
  • Ability to adapt to different classroom setups and teaching approaches.
