Job Description

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible person to join our friendly accounts team as soon as possible.  Our ideal candidate is someone with broad experience of finance-based functions.  Familiarity with the way the University works is an advantage, but if you have used other systems and have experience of MS Excel, we will teach you how to use the University’s systems.  You will find the role interesting and varied, with the opportunity to work on your own initiative within the scope of the role.

The role includes a full range of accounts duties in Payables, Receivables and General Ledger, with other tasks relating to research grants and payroll.  We’d love you to bring good communication skills with patience, tact, diplomacy so that you can help provide a first point of enquiry for staff, students and suppliers seeking accounts-related information, help and guidance. 

Sometimes the team’s work is very busy, so the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, whilst staying accurate and paying attention to detail is vital.  All members of the team work well to support each other, especially when deadlines are approaching.

You will have GCSE English and Maths, Grade 4 or 5 (Grade C) or above.  Additionally, AAT Intermediate, or equivalent is desirable.
