The opportunity
We’re looking for DevOps resources with expertise in Java OR .Net based Technologies to join the group of our System Engineering and Integration team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a leading firm whilst being instrumental in the growth of our service offering.
Your key responsibilities
The role Is required to support the DWP Apply Team, and will have the following responsibilities:
- implementation of Authentication and Authorisation for microservices/microfrontends
- Mentorship for Junior DevOps in the team
- Ensuring tech debt is highlighted and captured in backlogs.
- Identifying right-sizing opportunities with an understanding of FinOps principles
- Technical development & configuration
Tasks: Write deployment run books for staging and live deployments and provide assistance to the SREs performing the deployment. Follow the PDUs ‘Ways of Working’, covering; code, branch, commit, and testing standards. Ongoing maintenance tasks like; patching, upgrades, and improvement works. Documentation
- Build a secure Azure production environment that is DWP compliant and supports automation. This must be aligned to agreed Architecture documentation
- Build an Azure development and test environment that is DWP compliant. This must be aligned to agreed Architecture documentation
- Development of solutions using DevOps pipelines to delivery scalable, maintainable, and reusable products and services within existing and new platform & landing zones
- Ensures a smooth transition and minimal defects/issues when promoting the dev builds into the OPH environments.
- Fix any defects identified during testing
- Technical development & configuration
- All themes of work will require Azure, Terraform skills, Gitlab and some experience to Ansible
- It would be preferred if resource has PowerShell and Python Scripting experience
Skills and attributes for success
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Software Programming or Information Management
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience in a software development role
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Basic knowledge and understanding of software development life cycle processes, agile development methodologies, software design and testing
- Linux, AWS, CI/CD, and DevOps / Operational practices allowing them to be re-tasked across the platform between delivery, improvement, and support tasks
- Resources should have a suitable amount of Terraform experience, or certification, to be able to get up to speed quickly and work confidently on the estate
- The role will be expected to work to Automation first and DevOps principles
