As a simulation engineer you will work as part of an experienced team developing and maintaining Simulation, Digital Twin and data science models. To be effective in this role you will need a solid foundation of programming experience in a data centric environment as well as some relevant experience of simulation engineering or data science.
Connect to your skills and professional experience
- We are looking for a strong academic background (e.g. PhD, MSc or Meng or equivalent) in a STEM subject, ideally with further experience or MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant data science/AI specific subject.
- You will also have a solid foundation of programming experience in a data centric environment leveraging Python or similar languages to solve problems in a, simulation or analytics context.
Keys skills relevant to this role include:
Modelling and simulation:
- Conceptual and practical experience of modelling and simulation (discrete event simulations and agent-based modelling, engineering simulation)
- Experience using engineering simulation packages such as Matlab, FEA tools, CFD tools etc.
- Be confident developing and maintaining Python Simulation model code for critical process. Including error handling/debugging and feature development.
- Be confident designing new features at pace to enable the simulation to reflect the real-world operational environments
- Under guidance from the development team lead, build simulation data outputs appropriate for dashboarding.
- Be part of a high performing and supportive team
Coding:
- Strong programming experience in Python
- Data centric packages such as Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn
- Ability to produce and maintain production ready code
- Version control, for example using Git
- Implementing and/ or architecting solutions on a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Visualisation (Tableau, Plotly Dash, D3 for example)
Other:
- Experience of working in Consulting environment or similar on simulation, digital twin, similar tools
- Ability to develop models from scratch to solve real world client problems relevant to our clients
- Experience applying DES to shipping and port operations problems
- Experience applying ABM to commercial and organisational problems including M&A
- Ability to manage your own time
- Collaboration and working as part of a team
- Communicating technical information to non-technical audiences
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- Logical thinking and problem solving
