You will effectively manage a portfolio of spa design projects with the responsibility of creating unique design concepts for each Spa followed by ongoing project management. You will drive and lead each project from start to completion attending regular online and onsite meetings with owners, hotel operators, architects, interior designers and other key project contractors worldwide. This role involves extensive international travel and periods away from home.Responsibilities: Concept, Design and Financial Projections;

  • Brainstorm ideas with the client and project teams to create a unique spa design concept
  • Develop an understanding of local cultures and how they will impact the design, commerciality and style of the spa
  • Carry out site visits to view the area, establish design opportunities and restrictions and ascertain how the spa will interlink with the hotel
  • Develop an area space programme detailing facilities and each functional area and how they interlink with each other and the wider hotel/resort property.
  • Create a detailed design brief that will form the basis of the architects and interior designer’s decision making.
  • Create an Operational Flowchart for each area/level within the spa.
  • Create a Timeline for the project to ensure clear communication of key dates throughout the project
  • Review, measure and check accuracy of architects plans and and assess the different layout options to ensure the customer and operational journey is seamless and maximised
  • Maintain regular communication with architects, owners, contractors, lighting designers and hotel operators throughout the life of the project
  • Educate and influence architectural decisions that will impact the success of the design
  • Liaise with the ESPA’s Spa Operations team to develop financial projections
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships at all levels

Construction and Development:

  • Formulate an Interior Design Brief – check elevation plans. Prepare detailed Room Data sheets that will create the brief for Mechanical, Electrical, Audio, Plumbing, Lighting and Interior Design specialists.
  • Advise the client on design practicalities to ensure the Spa functions effectively
  • Liaise with the Interior Designers to check, test and approve all design finishes
  • Recommend heat experience suppliers -collect and compare quotes on behalf of the client
  • Carry out detailed checks on all plans and elevations including the review of the FFE specification and M&E drawings
  • Arrange site visits to ensure regular communication with the design team, owners and client
  • Provide guidance throughout the build process and continuous communication with all contractors and client representatives.
  • Review financial projections throughout the process and amend according to the design plans
  • Review tender documents

Skill Required:

  • Vast and varied knowledge across all related business types and competitive companies
  • Strong organising and administration skills
  • Minimum 5 years in spa and wellness hospitality operations and understanding of spa treatments and services
  • Ability to effectively time manage, multitask and prioritise workload
  • Ability to work both reactively and strategically and to maintain a flexible approach
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills across all organisational levels
  • A highly motivated, creative, passionate and enthusiastic professional with great attention to detail
  • Good networker with ability to influence a range of stakeholders at all levels and cross functionally within our own organisation as well as client facing
  • Microsoft Office and Adobe required
  • Flexible attitude towards changing goals and business requirements
  • Home based with flexibility to travel internationally when required
