We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join the team in producing innovative solutions. Utilising a wide range of exciting technologies, you will develop new products, systems and features. You will be working alongside colleagues who have many years’ experiences in product development and be involved in the full lifecycle, from feasibility to release to production and on-going support, working with the Company’s adaptive development methodology to deliver systems that exceed customer expectations and achieve the highest quality.
Job Role & Duties:
- Creating innovative designs that fulfil challenging user and performance requirements
- Proactively driving the development of targeted work items
- Further define and specify items prior to design
- Ensuring designs meet requirements via prototyping/testing and certification
- Using experience and technical best practice to overcome problems
- Ensuring that designs comply with the appropriate international standards
- Driving the EMC certification process and meeting those requirements
- Adopting good design principles to mitigate supply chain dependencies
- Identification, communication and solution proposal for technical issues and risk management
- Supporting other teams in all matters relating to electronic designs, their build and testing
- Interfacing with other teams to support company activities
- Analysis, selection and testing of alternative components
- Developing your knowledge of products, general practice and procedural areas
- Any other duties as and when required to maintain efficiency of the department/Company
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Use your experience to help guide designs at all stages, from concept to release to manufacture
- Understand, help develop and operate within company processes and procedures
- Ensuring designs are testable and ensure test plans are in place for all work items
- Maintaining D&D support for purchasing, production and operations
- Prototype bring-up, testing and reporting
- Support the design, certification and release to manufacture process
- Proactively taking on assignments as well as addressing any assigned
- Ensure work is documented
- Mentoring of junior members
- Proactively raise issues or risks, discovered or foreseen
Key Skills:
- Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent
- experience in Electrical/Electronic engineering
- Knowledge of more than one PCB CAD design packages for high-tech product designs. (Ideally, including Altium)
- Circuit Modelling and Simulation, SPICE, WEBENCH etc
- Working with hazardous voltages and safe working practices
- Hands-on prototyping, testing and fault finding to component level
- Experience of designing for EMC (reducing emissions / increasing immunity) and taking product through compliance
- Networked / IOT / IIOT product design experience
- Design for manufacture experience
- Prototyping systems virtually, or on the bench prior to design works
- Fault-finding at component and system levels
- Seeking alternative components and ensuring they meet requirements
- Working with hazardous voltages
- Ensuring health and safety is appropriate for the task
- Familiar with common peripheral interfaces, such as I2C, SPI, and high-speed memory interfaces etc.
- Working within an industrial environment
- Experience of designing for EMC (reducing emissions / increasing immunity) and taking product through compliance
- Mixed Analogue, Digital and Power electronic design experience for embedded systems
- Experience of digital/analogue hardware techniques and fault-finding procedures
