Job Description

Background
Our President, Sir Professor Anthony Finkelstein, joined City in 2021, and under his leadership we have developed a new University strategy which gives equality, diversity and inclusion a much greater focus. We have also launched the Office for Institutional Equity & Inclusion (OIEI) which serves as City’s catalyst for inclusive excellence and culture change. Led by the Assistant Vice-President (EDI) who reports to the President, the OIEI works across City to transform our organisational culture and foster an inclusive, respectful and supportive environment so that everyone can fulfil their true potential.
Responsibilities
You will work collaboratively with EDI Manager: Race Equity & Intersectionality Initiatives and stakeholders in the development and delivery of plans to support advancing gender equity initiatives and projects to embed cultural change in the organisation.
You will act as a first point of contact for queries relating to Gender & LGBTQ+ projects and lead on Athena Swan and Stonewall Charter marks; including collation of evidence to support submissions, liaising with stakeholders and the implementation of action plans.
You will support with the collection, analysis and presentation of robust data to measure impact and progress of EDI work undertaken.
You will work closely with the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Board, the City Women and LGBTQI+ staff affinity networks, the Gender Equality Committee; LGBTQI+ Anti- Discrimination Action Committee; Transgender, Intersex and Gender Non-Conforming (TIGNC) working groups to support the development of related projects; acting as project lead on key related events such as Pride Month and International Women’s day.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will ensure that we not only meet our equality, diversity and inclusion ambitions, but also support and enable the pursuit of excellence in all that we do.
You will have experience of working in the EDI field with some focus on Gender Equity and/or LGBTQ+ in a higher education setting or large complex organisation.
Working across stakeholders, including academic and professional services staff and students, excellent communication and organisation skills are required to manage multiple projects, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
