The Faculty of Education is looking to appoint a Senior IT Technician to join our front-line IT/AV/Digital services team. The office provides the IT/AV/ Digital services and infrastructure for the faculty, which is one of the largest groups of educational researchers and teacher educators and is a vibrant and very active academic community. This is a highly visible service, and its work has a daily and immediate impact on core business.
About the Role
The overall purpose of the post is to provide a fit for purpose, efficient and effective service to Faculty staff and students. The post holder is responsible for providing first and second line support for the Faculty’s IT services, including solving complex technical issues and offering solutions. They will work with a diverse range of customers, technologies, and devices, carrying out installations, office moves, IT inductions, etc.
The successful candidate will be able to work as part of a team with support from colleagues to manage own workload, delivering core IT services. They will have excellent customer service skills, including the ability to build relationships with staff and students, and be able to translate technical information to a wide range of users. They should also be able to ask appropriate questions and be interested in working through technical problems and issues, demonstrating experience in specific IT services areas.
What you will need
- Experience of working in a busy IT/AV Department & Supporting End Users in person or remotely
- Specialist knowledge and skills relating to IT & AV Systems especially Hybrid support
- Advanced knowledge of using and supporting Microsoft 365 Applications
- Experience of supporting Academic and Professional Users
- Excellent organisational Skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
