Our University

Ravensbourne University London is an innovative, industry-focused university located at the heart of London’s newest creative community on the Greenwich Peninsula. We’re champions of creativity and collaboration, dedicated to giving our learners the specialist skills and opportunities they need for outstanding careers in digital media and design.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Lecturer to join the small, specialist team in Broadcast Engineering.  This is a crucial role to support the development of the Broadcast Engineering course, and to contribute to a growing remit in related areas.

Ravensbourne’s BSc Broadcast Engineering course has a 40-year track record in providing a first-class education.  With a range of close relationships with industry companies and practitioners, it is rooted firmly in practical engineering skills.   The course has a positive reputation in the industry and achieves very strongly in supporting students into employment.   It is part of the Department of Film, Television and Media, alongside highly-regarded courses in film, post-production, music and sound design, and television production.   Relationships with these other courses are dynamic, with especially close working with the BA Television Production.

This small and tight-knit team will need to maintain a flexible and creative approach to teaching and partnership to ensure that content and approaches are up to date with a changing industry.

The Candidate

Candidates will have current or recent industry experience in a technical broadcasting role closely related to broadcast engineering,  with a strong working knowledge of broadcast systems and standards.  Basic coding ability – for example simple Arduino programs, driving stepper motors etc.  A working knowledge of chromakeying, and green screen for virtual production will also be vital.  Some experience of teaching in higher education or industry training is essential, as is a demonstrable ability to manage and administer projects.

The candidate will possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to engage students directly with their chosen industry will be essential.
