  • Develop and maintain the Skyscanner Accounting Policy Manual
  • Advise on new accounting developments that may require changes to accounting policies, disclosures, or processes
  • Advise on accounting of new complex accounting transactions and perform reviews of existing accounting positions and financial statements
  • Review existing practices and advise on improvement or alternative approaches
  • Supporting multi-scenario business propositions, opportunities to develop and demonstrate an agile, adaptive approach to give guidance and alternatives
  • Collaborations across Finance and the wider Skyscanner business, seeking to understand our business model and ambitions and providing technical inputs to ensure understanding of our accounting and reporting requirements
  • Monitor and document any GAAP differences between Group and foreign subsidiaries
  • Maintain the group proforma financial statements and develop new disclosures, including SECR reporting
  • Knowledge sharing and education across Finance – demonstrating ability to translate complex accounting across multi-discipline audiences
  • Adoption of a continuous improvement mindset
  • Supporting business growth activities including M&A and expansion into new countries, including due diligence reviews, and establishment of accounting policies for new entities.
  • Support development of Finance Control Manual
  • Ad-hoc projects to develop accounting policy with collaboration to ensure controls operate effectively in compliance with SOX requirements
  • Prepare audit and other committee papers
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with colleagues across finance globally

What are we looking for ?

  • A professional accounting qualification, and at least 5 year’s PQE (ACCA, ICAS, ICAEW)
  • Significant experience in corporate reporting and technical accounting (prior Big 4 audit experience would be an advantage)
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRSs, knowledge of US GAAP beneficial
  • Knowledge of international group structures, multi-jurisdictional accounting
  • Understanding of SOX, PCAOB
  • Commercially minded, understanding business drivers and able to translate them into reportable accounting impacts
  • Pragmatic and able to give guidance, share recommendations, comfortable in being decisive and working around scenarios with high levels of ambiguity.
  • Experience in corporate reporting including SECR reporting
  • Experience writing accounting policies and technical accounting papers
  • Knowledge of corporate governance and comfortable interpreting legal agreements
  • Able to engage with and influence colleagues of all levels of the organisation
  • Strong problem-solving and organisation skills, including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Solid analytical skills with high attention to details and ability to conduct complex data analysis, which may require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors
  • Demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude and out-of-the-box thinking
  • Ability to operate with different cultures on an international level in a dynamic working environment
