Job Description

Job title: Senior Mechanical Engineer – Medical Devices Instrumentation

Company: Newton Colmore Consulting

Job description: A growing medical devices company, based in Cambridge, are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to help with the development of complex instrumentation.

You will be working within an established team of Mechanical Engineers, where your focus will be on complex instrumentation that is used on medical devices. In particular, a lot of your work will be on gear systems, so apart from the design aspect you would also build systems yourself. Due to this we are looking for people with a hands-on approach.

Although you are working within a team you will find you will also work on individual projects, due to this you will need to have the ability to work on your own as well as in a team. When working on your own you would be implementing mechanical engineering fundamentals, so if you have not worked on fundamentals since university I would suggest brushing up before any interviews.

In the role of a Senior Mechanical Engineer, it would be ideal if you have worked on the design and development of medical devices in the past, however if you have worked within other highly regulated fields on the mechanical design of complex systems, instruments, automation or gears we would still consider your application.

Your projects could range from creating medical devices from inception through to designing production and manufacturing systems, this is why it would be advantageous if you have worked on the full life cycle of developing complex technologies.

The people who have gone on to develop excellent careers, in this company, normally have technical or complex hobbies. This could range from tinkering with remote control devices, taking apart computers through to building automobiles or planes. This shows a real passion for engineering so is liked.

You would normally hold a mechanical engineering degree for a leading university. However, if you have worked for a design consultancy or worked on a range of complex technology design we would still be interested in your application.

Due to the complex nature of the work, with this company, I expect that you would never get bored as there is always something new to work on. Apart from the compelling work, you would also be rewarded with a proven career path, excellent salary, bonus, relocation assistance (when needed) and other benefits.

There will be a lot of interest in this role, so if you are interested I would suggest making an application now.
