Job description: This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced programme manager to be part of a team working at the interface of academia and operational and strategic public health.Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Medway is a five-year collaboration between Medway Council and the University of Kent, with £5 million in funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The HDRC aims to enhance local authorities’ research activity and foster innovative partnerships with academia. Its focus is on addressing health inequalities by improving the broader determinants of health within the local community. A key element to achieve this will be to change the culture of the council to use the findings of research to inform decision-making.Key Responsibilities of this role include: * Programme Leadership: Oversee the NIHR HDRC Medway Programme and Compliance Team, ensuring robust governance and regulatory structures are in place. This involves ensuring that the HDRC complies with information governance requirements, data protection, research ethics, programme delivery requirements and reporting to funders.
- Programme Management: Ensure timely delivery of the HDRC Medway programme, adhering to budget constraints and managing risks. Monitor milestones and ensure that reporting mechanisms are in place for the various stakeholders. Deliver in a creative and innovative environment with competing priorities.
- Administrative Support: Efficiently manage administrative and executive functions for the HDRC, including support for the Executive Team.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Oversee effective communication, involvement, and engagement activities delivered by the communications team and the involvement and engagement team. Promote awareness and participation among internal and external stakeholders, emphasising public engagement and knowledge mobilisation. Overall, the goal is to place the public at the core of the HDRC’s work, fostering collaboration and advancing health research in the local area.
