Job description: Senior Quantity SurveyorAviation / Airfield Maintenance ¦ Civil EngineeringLocation – ManchesterAn outstanding opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the AmcoGiffen Aviation business unit-supporting a rapidly growing portfolio of Airfield maintenance projects throughout the UK. The role is to support the current commercial team at Manchester Airport and lead the commercial function for other projects throughout the Aviation BusinessBusiness UnitA busy and fast paced rail civils asset maintenance/management (CAM) framework environment. The business unit consists of ‘small’ maintenance projects both reactive and planned around the rail network.They are responsible for the maintenance and repair of rail assets in a long term framework / contract agreement with works typically ranging in type, scale and value.Projects can typically include repair and maintenance to bridges, tunnels, structures, stations, embankments, flood and weather damage, signage, de-vegetation, fencing, handrails etc.The RoleAs Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be working within the Aviation project Delivery team contributing to the profitable performance of the business unit, through the successful commercial and financial management of works, including day to day duties such as:

  • Prompt presentation of all applications for payment, including all contractual entitlements.
  • Ensuring that payments are received in accordance with the contract terms.
  • Prompt submission of estimate / tendering information to the client.
  • Prompt presentation of Final Accounts, including negotiation of all contractual entitlements.
  • Prompt presentation of weekly cost / value information, delivery schedules and associated Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data.
  • Preparation and presentation of Monthly Cost/Value Reconciliations and Final Cost/Value Forecasts.
  • Preparation and presentation of forward work schedules and cash flows.
  • Procurement, negotiation and placing of Sub-contract Orders.
  • Financial and commercial management of Sub-contractors through to settlement of their Final Accounts.
  • Ensuring that all contractual letters/ notices and information are presented in accordance with the contract requirements.
  • Preparation of appropriate documentation in support of additional payment, variations, claims etc.
  • Commercial support to the site and contracts management team.
  • Commercial support to the Estimating and Procurement teams.
  • Overview and support of Quantity Surveyors under training as appropriate.
  • Close liaison with the client on all commercial matters, including preparation and submission of supporting information.

Other tasks as may from time to time be deemed necessary and are authorised by line managers.RequirementsTo excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor looking to progress to Senior QS level, in a civil engineering environment. Some experience working on aviation projects or maintenance would be beneficial but is not essential for the position.

  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (HNC/HND/Degree)
  • Civil Engineering project experience
  • Contractual experience with NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract)
  • Experience at minimum Quantity Surveyor level

Expected salary: £45000 – 55000 per year
