Contract Length: 12 month initial contract
Location: Hybrid/East Kilbride – 2 days per week on-site
IR35: Inside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: Market Rate

Spinwell is recruiting for a Senior SQL Server DBA for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR SQL SERVER DBA

You will work within an established MS SQL Server Team with other permanent and contractor staff, reporting directly to the Database Manager.

You will work alongside Platforms, Linux, EUD, network engineers, architects, testers, product owners and delivery managers to support, develop and enhance our IT and Database infrastructure, support delivery of inflight & planned initiatives for 2023 / 2024.

You will provide BAU support to ensure availability, stability, and high performance of our SQL Server estate.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE SENIOR SQL SERVER DBA

  • Installation and configuration of SQL Server 2019
  • TSQL skills
  • PowerShell skills
  • Good understanding of High Availability solutions
  • Experience of Always-On clustered environments
  • Experience in Log shipping for Disaster Recovery
  • Deploying routine security patches for windows OS and SQL Server SPs & CUs
  • SQL Server best practice security principals. i.e Security Groups & RBAC
  • Understanding of TLS certificates for end point encryption.
  • Management & Enhancement of SQL Server maintenance plans. i.e., Backups, integrity checks, reindexing & housekeeping using a T-SQL and Stored Procedures.
  • SQL Server Auditing
  • Capacity management for databases files and virtualised storage.
  • Experience in Incident, Change & Problem management.
  • Documentation management; Creating and developing SQL Team Standards & Policies, Low Level Designs, High Level Designs.
  • Monitoring SQL Server production environments
