Are you a Senior User Researcher (UR)/User Experience (UX) Human Factors Consultant who has experience of leading projects to deliver work to the highest standards? As a Senior UR/UX Human Factors Specialist in ‘Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology’ (ADS&T), you’ll play a vital role in shaping your projects. Working alongside talented colleagues within Human Factors and related disciplines. You’ll provide the technical Lead in UR/UX within our high profile and exciting digital and software projects working alongside other team members to support staff and capability development.
The role will also require you to support business development activities including the writing of bids and contributing to innovation and knowledge sharing across our Human Factors community.
What you can bring?
Essential-
- Experience applying a User Centric Design approach (such as Design Thinking) to digital and software projects, working closely with end users and stakeholders.
- Experience defining programmes of UR/UX work around complex technical solutions.
- Comfortable producing high-quality UR/UX outputs, such as: User Stories, Personas, Journey Maps, Blueprints, Site Maps, Task and Error Analysis.
- Experience at creating wireframes, functional specifications and interactive prototypes using suitable software (Figma / XD / Sketch).
- Planned and led User Research sessions to capture insights and needs and playing this back to client stakeholders with a suitable narrative.
- Worked effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and with End Users, to understand, research and design digital solutions.
- Human Factors, Psychology, UX/UR or related degree.
Desirable-
- GDS (Government Digital Services) experience.
- Defence domain knowledge and experience.
- Experience working within an Agile/SAFe environment (JIRA and Confluence etc…).
- Knowledge in one or more of: Information Architecture; Service Design; Interaction Design; UI Design; Design Systems; Visual Design.
- Experience of applying HF UX UI design guidance (e.g. Nielsen’s heuristics, Schneiderman’s golden rules etc.).
- Experience of applying Human Factors usability assessment techniques, such as: SUS, QUIS or SUMI.
