University College is recruiting for a full-time Sous Chef. You will join our catering management team working under the Executive Chef and Head Chef.

You will work with the team to produce a wide variety of dishes for various catering demands, including College catering, fine-dining, banquets, afternoon tea, development/VIP events and conferencing. 

You will lead, inspire and develop a dedicated and diverse body of kitchen staff to provide a high standard of quality food consistently.

You will also be expected to oversee the general operation of the kitchens, e.g menu planning and costing; ensuring that orders are placed with suppliers; dietary requirements are accurately observed; food safety, and relevant Health and Safety regulations are adhered to, managing the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence etc.

The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation of gastronomy and a proven knowledge of cooking techniques. You will be well organised, good at multi-tasking and able to work independently to an extremely high standard. You will also need to be flexible in your approach to work and changing demands day to day.

You will be a good team player with the ability to communicate and relate professionally with a range of customers. A proven culinary experience in a similar role, together with an NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) are essential.
