Location: Kingston Upon Hull
Daily Rate: £76 to £95 per day
Start Date: January 2024

GSL Education Hull is actively looking for Special Education Needs Teaching Assistants to work within a community special school in Kingston Upon Hull, from January 2024.

This is a full-time position, 5 days a week, term time only, and offers you the opportunity to excel within your career and make a real difference to the quality of young people’s lives.

The potential candidate will work closely with a team of professionals to provide tailored and specific support for young people who have additional requirements in either Academic or Communicative development. A large part of this role is relationship and stability building for the young person. For this position, successful candidates will be working on a 1:1 and small group basis with children and young people from the age of 2 to 19 years old.

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Be hardworking, dedicated, and committed to a long-term post.
  • Excellent communication skills. Candidates with experience using PECs and Makaton are advantageous but not essential.
  • Work alongside teaching staff and other support staff within the school, to support pupil behavior, learning, and personal development.
  • Encourage pupil participation in whole-school life, including extra-curricular activities where appropriate.
  • Promote a positive attitude and behavior towards learning.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, following lesson outcomes planned by the class teacher.
  • Have a Teaching Assistant Qualification, Degree, NVQ, or relevant experience.

Aspiring candidates must have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one via GSL Education.
