Job description: City of York Council is offering an exciting opportunity to join our developing 0-19 Healthy Child Service as a specialist Community Public Health Nurse – Student Health Visitor/School Nurse.

We are looking for compassionate, accountable individuals motivated to meet the demands of the SCPHN course through attendance at Hull University.

You will be a current NMC Registered Nurse (Adult, child, learning Disabilities, Mental Health) or midwife.

You will undertake Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner training, incorporating theoretical and practical elements in order to develop the knowledge and skills required to practice safely and effectively as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – Health Visitor/ School Nurse.

You will be responsible for the efficient delivery of a universal core service, targeted interventions and public health interventions to children, young people and their families.

You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, under the leadership of the Healthy Child Service Team Manager, to ensure the best health outcomes for children, young people and families across the City of York are achieved.

Predominantly based at Hobmoor Children’s Centre and working across the city from the other Children’s Centre bases. Visiting schools and service user homes. Working from home arrangements are also available.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
