We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced sponsorship sales professional to join us and help to drive sponsorship revenue for the intellectual property events division.

The Legal events department at Newton Media is expanding, and looking for an ambitious, self-starting, highly motivated and experienced sponsorship and exhibition sales professional to help us drive this momentum.

We serve those at the forefront of intellectual property and innovation with events covering life sciences, data, technology and trademarks. Delivering targeted, senior level, in-person events across Europe and the US.

What you’ll be doing

As a Sponsorship Sales Executive you will play a dynamic role in growing the events by securing new commercial partners and increasing our client base.

Working closely with the content producer and marketing department, you will be tasked with negotiating and delivering sponsorship packages that meet the needs of our clients to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

You will be responsible for the whole process including sourcing, connecting, pitching and closing new sponsors, and ensuring successful delivery of all aspects of the client experience, plus further cross-selling and growing your own personal portfolio of clients across our industry-leading events.

You will be selling across the whole events and webinar portfolio with specific focused projects when required. Focusing on building new business relationships and expanding your client base for each conference to drive further commercial success.

You’ll be confident dealing with senior executives, proficient at new business prospecting, great on the phone, ambitious and target driven. You will need to be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and highly self-motivated as you will be predominantly working from home.

You’ll be joining a sponsorship team of two, currently operating across a £1 Million+ event portfolio, and be a key tool in driving us towards a £2 Million+ event portfolio.

You will consider attention to detail a key measure of success, have exceptional organisational skills, and the ability to communicate diplomatically with external stakeholders of all levels in a professional and friendly manner. The capability to thrive under pressure will ensure success in this role as working on multiple projects simultaneously will be required. We are looking for a tenacious team player that is confident in taking ownership of their responsibilities, but even more confident in asking for help when they need it.

Experience

Experience in sponsorship sales is essential. Legal and intellectual property sector experience is highly desirable – however, if you have a strong pedigree of selling in b2b markets at director and partner level, we will be open-minded if you can provide evidence of success with these types of decision makers. We will consider candidates with events delegate sales experience looking to transition to sponsorship sales.

You will need experience selling to senior level individuals in companies; prospecting using your own research; cold calling/emailing; dealing with gatekeepers; dealing with marketing heads; identifying needs/pain points; and putting together strong pitches/proposals, both verbal and written.

Essential skills

  • 2 years+ experience working in B2B environment. Conference sponsorship sales experience preferred, but not essential
  • Ability to adjust to tight deadlines
  • Prepared to ‘go the extra mile’
  • Diligent and accurate always
  • Have excellent communication skills, telephone manner and excellent written English
  • Demonstrable track record of achieving and exceeding targets
  • Proficient at using different IT systems including Microsoft Office, Google G-Suite and able to pick up technology easily
  • Fluent English speaker

  • A knowledge of the legal market, specifically intellectual property
  • Experience at another B2B media company covering similar topics

Expected salary: £30000 – 35000 per year
