We are pioneers in shaping the future of payments, driving accessibility and security across borders.About the TeamThe Public Policy team is responsible for the legislative and regulatory policy analysis, advocacy, and relationship management of key stakeholders, including members of Congress, regulators, government officials, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), trade associations and employees.As a member of this team, you will provide strategic advice to Worldpay business leaders to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy developments. You will also build a close relationship with the Legal, Compliance, Communications and Risk teams.This team is part of of the Corporate Affairs department, which combines Public Policy/Government Affairs, ESG/Sustainability, as well as Corporate Communications and Marketing.What You Will Be DoingCore Role & Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and anticipate key legislative and regulatory trends across the EMEA region that may impact Worldpay, with a key focus on the UK, EU and NL.
- Support the development of our public policy strategy in the EMEA and represent Worldpay externally with governments, regulators, and third parties.
- Advise internal business, senior management, and legal/compliance/risk stakeholders on key regulatory and legislative developments to assist with our risk assessment, product development strategies and business priorities.
- Anticipate significant policy and political trends and develop strategies to manage the environment.
- Develop relationships with relevant regulatory bodies, government officials, central banks, and trade associations to advance interests of Worldpay and the industry.
- Foster close relationships with internal business partners and work with them to ensure advocacy efforts are in line with enterprise-wide goals and objectives.
- Work with cross-functional partners to generate comment letters and official responses to key regulatory and other policymaking consultations.
- Represent the organization’s interests at public meetings and forums as applicable to the adoption and enactment of public policies by local, regional, and federal governmental bodies.
- Prepare briefing documents, talking points, and background materials for advocacy engagements.
- Draft presentations, briefing documents, speeches, and talking points for executive leaders.
- Design and implement advocacy strategies for achieving policy goals with relevant federal and state legislative, administrative, regulatory, and other governmental entities.
- Oversee various compliance obligations for the public policy team, focusing specifically on transparency reporting requirements.
- Identify deliverables, track results, and report progress to management across a wide range of policy issues. Ensure timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives across the Global Public Policy team.
What You Bring
- Master’s degree in Public Policy, International Relations, Law, or a related field is required.
- 5+ years required of demonstrable experience in UK public policy, government relations, or related government experience. Good knowledge of EU institutions is also essential.
- Outstanding, proven interpersonal skills with the ability to function in and promote a team culture.
- Ability to learn fast and share knowledge with an acute interest for payments, financial services, technology, and policy. Passionate to learn and improve, be innovative, creative, and driven to succeed.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills coupled with the ability to communicate at a high level, including explaining complex policy matters to senior executives and to external stakeholders.
- High political acumen with a thorough understanding of the decision-making processes of executive and legislative branches of government.
- Ability to partner with industry trade associations and successfully advocate for Worldpay within those associations.
- Organized and detail-oriented. Fair and respectful in every setting.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective legislative strategies and a passion for advocacy.
- Ability to navigate corporate settings to bring teams together to tackle challenges and address opportunities.
- Strong analytical approach to problem solving, ability to develop creative and practical solutions to complex problems, able to deal with short deadlines, and work productively in high pressure situations.
- Able to consistently exercise sound judgment and understand the broader commercial and regulatory environment in which Worldpay operates.
- Knowledge and experience of the payments, financial services, technology sectors are a plus.
