Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic administrator to join the Faculty Education Office (Medicine) as Summer School Assistant. You will have administration experience and ideally be able to demonstrate high competency with MS Office packages (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word). This is a central role, where you will support the Director of the Summer School, the Postgraduate Education Administrator (Summer School), and the Postgraduate Education Manager.
You should be self-motivated and be able to use initiative. The ability to work independently, managing a busy workload with competing priorities is essential, as is attention to detail and accuracy. You must possess good organisational and communication skills, as there will be communication with potential applicants, students, Faculty staff and external stakeholders.
This post would suit a confident, professional, articulate, organised and approachable individual with a strong interest or some experience in higher education and looking to build upon their experience or early career as a professional administrator.
You will be located at the South Kensington Campus, but will work on other campuses on occasions, as the Faculty Education Office has staff based across four campuses.
Duties and responsibilities
- You will provide administrative assistance to the Postgraduate Education Manager and work closely with the Summer School Administrator.
- Support the organisation and running of all aspects of the Summer School by providing assistance to the Summer School Administrator and Summer School Academic Coordinator as required.
- You will be responsible for processing admissions for the Summer School and Summer School Scholarship.
- You will prepare information and documents for participants on the Summer School.
- You will work closely with temporary student staff e.g. student mentors and ambassadors, and facilitate training sessions.
Essential requirements
- Educated to A level or equivalent
- Ability to manipulate and present data effectively.
- Ability to manage own workload through effective ordering of priorities, displaying good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
- A methodical and accurate approach to work with attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Initiative and the ability to judge when to use it.
Further Information
This role is full time, fixed term for 4 months based at South Kensington Campus and expected to travel to other campuses, £34,273 – £37,180 per annum.

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
