Our facility has been designed specifically to engage and inspire young people from Key Stage 2 upwards to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).We are an education centre open for school trips and other group bookings. We offer a range of science shows, investigation workshops and make and take activities. Your Key Responsibilities will be:

  • Support the centre team to develop, prepare and deliver high-quality hands-on STEM education activities to students aged 7 – 17yrs. Incorporating an effective range of learning methods designed to engage and inspire.
  • Present dynamic demonstrations and deliver exciting activities to school children and visitors.
  • Provide excellent quality customer service to learners, students, schools, teachers and sponsors, both based at AFDS and through effective outreach activities across the country.
  • Support and help develop delivery of new revenue generating activities in addition to our core education offer – for example corporate hire.
  • Provide guidance and support for the team administrator on the effective operation of AFDS including booking arrangements, reception duties, facilities management, management, maintenance of equipment and learning support materials, monitoring stock levels and arrange for replenishment as required.
  • Comply with health and safety procedures and ensure that AFDS is always a presentable and safe working and learning environment.
  • Undertake continuous professional development in order to meet the ongoing needs of the role.
  • Carry out other duties as may be reasonably requested by the centre manager or college colleagues to support the smooth running of the AFDS.

You should have:

  • An enthusiasm for working with young people and confidence at leading education activities and demonstrations.
  • Experience of delivering programmes to young people – for example coaching and/or mentoring, formal and informal education activities.

Expected salary: £44 – 11.44 per hour
