Job description: Alecto Recruitment are working with our client to find a support engineer that will be office based, for their role in Croydon. You will be responsible for the support of the business from a hands-on engineering prospective as well as producing technical reports in accordance with company/client requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work in a support capacity and come off the tools in a supportive environment with a globally established engineering company.
Our client is a specialist for intelligent drive technology and systems as well as tailor made service. They offer high efficiency and reliability to customers from a highly diverse industries such as oil and gas, energy, mining and mechanical engineering.
The position being recruited for is a Support Engineer which is a permanent full-time contract and is office based.
The role is 36.5 hours a week and you will receive 20 days holiday (Pro Rata).

Core responsibilities
Support the business from a hands-on engineering perspective.
Manage warranty investigations as required including conducting the investigation, interacting with customers and suppliers, writing the investigation report, drawing conclusions on the failure, making recommendations for follow-up actions, and ensuring actions are implemented/ carried out.
Provide engineering expertise for the company in the analysis and signing of concessions and engineering changes.
Produce Method statements and Test procedures as required.
To carry out other functions broadly consistent with the role when required.
Support the Head of Engineering and Quality in setting and upholding the standards.
Professional Experience and Education
Experienced engineer with (as a minimum) an HNC/HND qualification (or equivalent) in a mechanically biased engineering discipline.
A minimum of 6 years professional engineering experience
Knowledge of various industries ranging from Mobility (Rail and Marine), Power Oil and Gas, aviation, etc, sectors
Knowledge of BS 8888 technical product documentation and specification.
Knowledge of mechanical driveline and connecting products and systems (gearboxes, cardan shafts, highly flexible couplings, rail couplers, cooler groups, etc) is advantageous but not essential.
Specific Skills & Knowledge (EX: Language, IT skills)
MUST have a HANDS-ON, flexible, positive, adaptable, and proactive approach.
Fluent technical and conversational English.
Knowledge of the ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
Genuine enthusiasm for Mechanical Engineering.
Team player.
Excellent communication skills on a technical level with both internal and external customers.
