About the role:

Here at SharkNinja, we are looking for a Senior Vice President (SVP) of Design and Advanced Development to lead a global team of talented Industrial Designers and Product Design Engineers. We are seeking a true Product Design Leader who has a track record of delivering inspiring world-class consumer product design. This role will direct and govern the design process of consumer-centric concepts and design architectures, from the early conception and ideation stage to mature design platforms that will become the next generation of SharkNinja products.

You’ll need to work seamlessly with our Global team of product developers to deliver consumer-focused concept product design ideas and lead the team through each development phase which can be taken into our NPD group for Mass Production.

You’ll be a natural and effective communicator, capable of reducing abstract concepts to reality quickly and easily digestible for senior executive leadership.

As the SVP of Design and Advanced Development, you’ll have the ability to lead a team to quickly generate visual and physical definitions of new products that convey key attributes of function and layouts.

You must be self-motivated, passionate and product focused, with an obsessive eye for details to drive progress.

Here are some of the exciting things you’ll get to do:

  • Work with our Mechanical NPD, R&D, Product Development, and Product Marketing teams to ensure a cohesive approach to the design of our products.
  • Support the communication of ideas quickly and be able to drive a team in effectively using a combination of sketching, CAD layouts, 3D models and working prototypes to evaluate potential solutions.
  • Inject energy, enthusiasm, and creativity into everything you touch.
  • Be able to vigorously defend the best ideas but be open and receptive to input from a broad creative team.
  • Apply sound design and engineering principles to technical problems.
  • Apply a comprehensive understanding of high-volume manufacturing processes and materials to optimize designs.
  • Confidence in managing external providers of technology solution to reduce our time to market.
  • Develop and execute verification and validation test plans.
  • Understand the importance of clear product definition during the design process but be able to appreciate the spark of inspiration.
  • Be naturally curious and relentlessly driven to find better solutions to everyday problems.
  • Demonstrate integrity and courage in the way you work; breaking the mold is not easy.
  • Continually evaluate and improve designs for cost effectiveness, manufacturing improvements, increased quality and value.
  • Identify new ideas, products and/or features that improve customer satisfaction, reduce costs and keep our product line at the forefront of our industry.

Here are some of the things you’ll bring:

  • Proven track record of taking consumer concept ideas through selection process and into tooling and mass production.
  • The ideal candidate will have a degree-level technical qualification, ideally in Industrial Design or Product Design Engineering, with significant product design content.
  • Extensive experience in an Industrial design/product design environment
  • Strong leadership experience required with excellent communication skills and an inspirational leadership style.
  • Proven structured approach to creative problem solving and expert understanding of the industrial design and mechanical design principles.
  • Extensive experience required in areas of High-Volume Plastic Injection Molding, Sheet Metal, Die Casting etc.
  • Strong understanding of the Product Design Selection Processes and a proven track record of invention and mechanical design conceptual and detailed development
  • Experience of high-volume manufacturing, design for manufacturing and manufacturing engineering and process control
