We are recruiting for an exciting, integral position within our People & Talent Team as Talent Acquisition Specialist. This role will be focussing on directly sourcing candidates, head hunting and overseeing the full-cycle of recruitment and TA processes within one of the Strategic Business Units, Technology & Outsourcing, which includes the brands of FlyerTech and Myairops. You will be based at our HQ in Farnborough, with the ability to work hybrid / remotely on a regular basis.
The Talent Acquisition Specialist will report directly to the Chief People Officer, but will work in partnership with the Managing Director for T&O, developing long-term recruiting strategies in line with our Group People strategy to deliver the T&O hiring requirements across all levels and disciplines. Talent Acquisition responsibilities include sourcing candidates and locating specialised skills sets that may be difficult to find in the open market, through various channels, using relevant social media, job boards, and direct sourcing, avoiding the use of agencies. You will plan interview and selection procedures and hosting or participating in career events. Candidate and line manager experience will be at the very forefront of all activities, nurturing trusting relationships with our hiring managers and candidates, while building a talent pool of high-quality candidates for future roles. You will be in constant daily search for top talent, horizon scanning and staying one step ahead of the developing needs of the T&O business unit.
Ultimately, you will be supporting the overarching strategy of achieving efficient and effective hiring processes, creating strong talent pipelines for T&O’s current and future hiring needs, and helping managers identify where the gaps in their talent pipeline are. To succeed within this position, you will have experience of working within a Talent Acquisition function, sourcing and headhunting candidates across a variety of technical disciplines. Excellent stakeholder management skills are essential as well as the ability to influence and push back, owning the recruitment process from end-to-end.

/ Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Selection
- Source and screen candidates for approved vacancies across T&O coordinating with hiring managers to identify recruitment needs, prepare the job scope and make the job live
- Point of contact for ongoing recruitment of staff in Poland. Determining the needs of the hiring manager, advising the best way to engage the worker, and raising the correct B2B contract or employment contract with assistance from Polish legal counsel
- Expanding the search for talent into the US market, working with our Employer of Record to engage talent in accordance with local legislation
- Use different online channels to source candidates, such as job boards, social media, direct resourcing and head hunting, avoiding the use of agencies
- Determine the selection criteria with the hiring manager, understanding the key requirements and essential skills sought and then use this to pre-screen candidates
- Ensure all applicants have the relevant right to work documents prior to being submitted to the hiring manager for review
- Ensure the application process is documented on Sage People, using the Recruit functionality
- Comply with GDPR and the company’s data protection and data retention polices by managing applications through approved systems and processes, ie, Sage People
- Plan interview and selection procedures, sending diary invites/Teams meetings, screening calls, assessments and in-person interviews. Assist the hiring manager to prepare for the interview with a suitable candidate interview pack, and attend in person if extra support is required
- Perform screening and initial interviews, join and support the end-to-end recruitment process
- Assess candidate information from each applicant and use the Sage People Recruit system to track candidates and provide feedback, ensuring their recruitment experience with us is positive
- Seek feedback after the interview and liaise with the candidate letting them know the outcome
- Make verbal offers and raise the offer paperwork in the system. Complete any offer negotiations and pass over the candidate to the People & Talent Administrator to start onboarding once the offer has been accepted. Ensure candidate details and documents are uploaded to the system, for example, CV, passport, interview notes and offer paperwork
- Work with the People and Talent team to support the onboarding of new joiners, via the Sage People check in. Supporting managers with their new hires, helping them embed their new starter, set objectives and pass through probation
- Work with hiring managers on the recruitment of contractors, advising managers on IR35 legislation and the process we need to undertake when engaging with contractors, ensuring hiring needs are met whilst staying compliant with IR35 rules
- With support from the People Partners, assess a contractor’s tax status using the QDOS tool, and issuing the appropriate agreement to the contractor
- Track and monitor progress of vacancies and offers across the BU, to ensure any challenges are identified and escalated swiftly
- Track and record TA and hiring metrics for T&O including Quality per Hire, Time to Hire, Cost per Hire, Hires Source and all costs relevant to recruitment campaigns
- Escalate all HR/employee relation issues to the relevant People Manager to action
Talent Acquisition/Pipeline
- Work in partnership with the Talent Acquisition Manager (TAM) to create and implement effective Talent Acquisition initiatives in line with the overarching Group strategy as defined by the CPO
- Work with TAM to build a strong EVP (employer value proposition) for the group as well as the T&O brands
- Work with TAM on all activity on social media for the Group, explore different mediums and how to reach different audiences as part of our D&I strategy
- Organise and attend job fairs and recruitment events to widen our scope and appeal
- Build relationships with local FE establishments to tap into graduate placements and interns
- Work with the People Partners on promoting our apprenticeship schemes
- Through relationships with the hiring managers, forecast quarterly and annual hiring needs by department, proactively gathering information regarding current planned and approved vacancies
- Foster long-term relationships with past applicants and potential candidates to build the talent pool
- Use the current Talent Management process for building a talent pool
Strategy and Planning
- Conduct and produce salary and benefit data for specific T&O roles as requested by management to help the management team with the financial and budget requirements for hiring. Feeding that information back to CPO for inclusion in the group annual benefits review
- Keep on top of hiring trends specifically in software development, and stay up to date with the best job boards and reach to market
- Explore myairops becoming a company that can sponsor non-UK nationals to work
- Through the monthly exit data compiled by the People and Talent team, understand the drivers for attrition, and feed back to Hiring Managers. Identifying common themes for employees leaving the business and escalate to management and the People Partner
- Develop and implement talent management initiatives for T&O in alignment with the overall talent management strategy of the group
- Champion the development and retention of talent through the management identifying training opportunities for their Teams. Help connect managers to the People Partner to make full use of existing training providers and the apprenticeship levy to upskill employees
/ Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:
- Sound experience as a Technical Recruiter from an inhouse talent function, with experience identifying and sourcing top technical talent
- Proven ability to headhunt technical talent for open positions as well as source passive candidates to build talent pipelines
- Experience of recruiting, and an understanding of, the technical skills and expertise needed for niche roles within software and technology
- Experience of a variety of sourcing methods across multiple platforms and networks including LinkedIn, with the ability to source candidates that fit requirements
- Experience of building great recruitment processes that analyse behaviours as well as technical competencies
- Highly passionate about the candidate journey, with excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, friendly and personable yet confident approach with gravitas and credibility
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
