Teaching Fellow – Arts and Humanities Foundation Year at University of Leeds

February 1, 2024

Job Description

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you experienced in delivering interdisciplinary subject teaching and academic skills support in the Arts and Humanities?  Do you have exceptional skills in enabling students from diverse backgrounds to develop their capability for successful university-level study?

The University of Leeds is one of the top 135 universities in the world.  We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities.  Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.

The Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) works with mature and part-time undergraduate and foundation-year learners across the University, especially where this enables participation of people from groups that are under-represented in higher education.  The Arts and Humanities Foundation Year programme provides students with a stimulating and supportive environment in which to acquire interdisciplinary knowledge and skills for progression to degrees in Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures. The foundation year has a strong emphasis on widening participation, both for adult and younger students, supporting learners to develop critical thinking and confidence for future study.

You will be experienced in delivering interdisciplinary subject content and integrated academic skills teaching, with responsibility for supporting learners undertaking the transition into higher education via foundation year study. The part-time Teaching Fellow role will be focused on interdisciplinary foundation year teaching which will include a module on Communications and other related areas. You will also contribute to aspects of wider programme delivery, such as academic personal tutoring, assisting admissions and progression processes, and supporting the Programme Manager. You will also contribute to the broader academic and pastoral support of students, and programme level activity, as part of the Arts and Humanities Foundation Year teaching team.

What we offer in return
