Job Description

We require a qualified veterinary surgeon to teach in our Comparative Biomedical Sciences Department. You must be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK Practising) or be immediately eligible for registration as the latter.

You will be contributing to our integrated, systems-based curriculum of the first and second year BVetMed programme, our Accelerated year for graduates, our pre-BVetMed Gateway year and our BSc Biosciences and Bioveterinary Sciences courses. The majority of your time will be spent facilitating in dissection practicals, small group directed learning sessions and tutorials based around live animals. There will be a smaller requirement for face-to-face lectures.

You will be an academic tutor to small groups of undergraduate students, and will contribute to the development of innovative teaching aids and our specimen collection. You will be integral to our group responsible for the planning, timetabling and delivery of our undergraduate curriculums. You will participate in our Widening Participation activities, Anatomy Society, and structured selection interviews for applicants to our undergraduate programmes.

Clinical veterinary practice experience is essential. Teaching experience would be advantageous.

At Teaching Fellow level, this post may suit a recent graduate wishing to reinforce their clinical knowledge with sound basic science, or an individual interested in a career in academia. Applicants with greater experience evidenced by, e.g., a Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Education (or equivalent) may be considered for appointment at the level of Senior Teaching Fellow.

The post is based at the RVC’s Camden campus.
