About us

As part of the Strategic Transport business area within the Transport Policy service, the Oxfordshire Transport Strategy Team have responsibility for developing, securing approval, updating and progressing countywide transport strategies. This includes the Local Transport and Connectivity Plan (LTCP) and supporting strategies for Freight and Logistics and Mobility Hubs. The team work closely with each other and with colleagues from across the Council.

About the role

The role will be responsible for taking forward the Freight and Logistics Strategy and associated projects. Working with teams from across the Council and external partners, the role will ensure that Council and strategic partner priorities for freight transport are developed, prioritised, approved and progressed. The role will have a leading role in freight transport policy and strategy development and will be a technical expert within the Council in relation to freight and logistics.

About you

We’re looking for someone who has experience of delivering complex technical work involving freight and logistics projects and related proposals. You will need the ability and skill to make important technical decisions, particularly affecting or informing the development of freight policy and strategy. You will also need the ability to use your own judgment in a range of situations, dealing with complex case issues and sensitive situations.

Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports will be required, whilst having understanding and experience using data, insight and performance measures to assess the impact of services and inform decisions to improve outcomes.
