Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Building Design at Technical University of Denmark
Job Description
DTU Construct is seeking an assistant professor in the Section for Energy and Services who takes a holistic approach to building design. The position will have a central role in developing DTUs teaching and research in building design with focus on building physics and sustainability assessment in the design process.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The primary focus will be to further develop the foundation for design of sustainable buildings based on understanding of building technologies, building physics and sustainability assessment. Transformation and renovation of existing buildings will be central for reducing the influence on climate change from the building sector which requires experience with solutions for both new and existing buildings. Understanding the existing building practice is central for renovation of existing buildings and a successful candidate should have experience with building practices in Northern European and Artic climates.
A central activity will be development of DTUs educations in Architectural Engineering and DTUs teaching activities in Greenland.
We are looking for candidates that have experience within several of the areas below:
- Building design processes
- Sustainability assessment including life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle costing (LCC)
- Building physics
- Building technology
- Danish and Greenlandic building practices
- Transformation and renovation of existing buildings
- Research and innovation projects in a collaborative environment
- Dissemination of research and innovation results through scientific journals and industry magazines
You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

DTU Mechanical Engineering covers the fundamental engineering disciplines within Solid mechanics, Fluid mechanics, Coastal and Maritime Engineering, Energy systems and energy conversion, Materials and Surface Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering design and Product development.
