About the School

The Institute of Global Humanities at Nanjing University was established under the lead of the School of Arts, with cooperative support from the School of Foreign Studies and the School of Liberal Arts. Both the School of Liberal Arts and the School of Arts are joint-builders of the “Chinese Language, Literature, and Art” double first-class discipline cluster. The discipline of Art Studies has 14 professors (12 of whom are doctoral supervisors), including one senior university professor in liberal arts at Nanjing University, one foreign member of the European Academy of Sciences, two individuals selected for the national high-level talent program, and two selected for the national young talent program. The foreign languages and literature discipline, established in 1917, is one of the first institutions in the nation to award doctoral degrees. It has the authority to award first-level discipline doctorate degrees and has been selected twice for the Ministry of Education’s first-class discipline construction project.

The Institute of Global Humanities at Nanjing University is one of the first research institutes established at the Suzhou campus. It addresses the new developments in the fields of arts and technology, English and international communication, and global humanities. The institute’s aim is to nurture interdisciplinary talents with an understanding of different disciplines, and it carries out interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, and cross-regional comprehensive research. It is committed to building an international and high-level academic team. 

Positions

We intend to recruit talents in all major research fields of art studies, artificial intelligence in arts, cross-cultural studies, and international communication studies with workplace located on Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor.

Areas of the proposed positions include:

  1. Digital Media Arts
  2. Artificial Intelligence and Artistic Creativity
  3. Art History and Theory
  4. Cross-cultural Studies (English Major)
  5. International Communication Studies

Qualifications

The applicant should

  1. Commitment to academic teaching and research, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  2. High standards of professional conduct, including adherence to teaching and research ethics; no history of criminal convictions or academic misconduct.
  3. Strong academic background: Ph.D. in a closely related field. Candidates should have experience studying and working in leading research institutions, with a demonstrated record of academic excellence.
  4. Proven teaching ability, including the capacity to deliver core and advanced courses effectively. Candidates should be familiar with modern teaching methodologies and possess strong verbal communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated research excellence and potential for continued academic development: a solid record of innovative research with international visibility and a clear and ambitious research agenda.
