We are working with one of the largest UK Train Operating Companies (currently operating 464 stations, the most of any TOC in the UK), who are seeking to recruit a Train Cleaner to join the train cleaning team based in Allerton Depot.
They are looking for someone with a ‘go getter’ attitude who isn’t afraid to get stuck in and can lead a team by example.
The Role:
The role itself is that of a Train Presentation Team Leader. This means that you will be leading a team of 4 operatives at any one time in the cleaning of a train, as well as issuing jobs on the worksheet, audits, and liaising with the Train Presentation Supervisor. This will include exterior cleaning (hand bashing) and interior cleaning, hoovering the floors, inspecting/maintaining toilets, etc.
You will work 6 weeks at a time on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern – although this may also run as a continental shift pattern, i.e 5 on 3 off. You will work 6 weeks on days, working 08:15am – 17:15pm, before switching to 6 weeks on nights working 20:15pm – 05:15am.
The depot itself is large in its presence with a requirement to be physically fit to move around the depot with no restrictions.
The Company:
The company covers the whole of the North, which includes the North East & West of England, Yorkshire and the Humber, as well as the occasional part of the East Midlands and Staffordshire.
As a result of this, they have a large fleet of trains – 333 to be precise, so it’s safe to say you will be active & busy with your role!
Remuneration & Benefits:

- £11.59p/h (Days) & £12.40p/h (Nights)

Requirements:
- Be able to pass a Drugs & Alcohol test
- Be able to pass a full rail medical – this will include, sight, hearing, colourisation, heart, lungs, brain, etc
- Be Computer literate – Microsoft Office, Emails, etc
- Provide your Right to Work documents before deployment
- Must have team leading experience, but this does NOT have to be rail based
- Happy to help mentality/attitude
- A decent fitness is needed as the site is very large and will involve a lot of walking, so please keep this in mind when applying
