About the School of Communication:
The School of Communication at the Royal College of Art (RCA) explores the ways in which communication shapes our world, experimenting with radical and innovative methods of practice. Students and researchers develop their careers across a range of disciplines, including art, design, curation, and writing. The School is characterized by its critical diversity, encouraging students to engage deeply with their personal practices while addressing broader societal, environmental, economic, and cultural challenges. Through experimentation with a wide array of media – from VR and animated film to sound showers and graphic novels – the School fosters an environment for bold, interdisciplinary creative exploration.
About the Visual Communication Programme:
The Visual Communication programme at the RCA prioritizes practical and discursive approaches to communication, fostering a community of critical thinkers and makers. Students are encouraged to engage in collaborative working methods, grounded in compassion, active listening, and mutual respect, as they interrogate and challenge societal norms. The programme aims to cultivate transformative, activist movements through socially, culturally, and politically informed practices.
Role Profile – Tutor (0.6 FTE) – Visual Communication:
The role of the Tutor is primarily focused on delivering teaching within the MFA Communication programme. This includes leading tutor groups, conducting lectures, seminars, and workshops, and participating in assessment activities. Additionally, the postholder will contribute to the planning and continuous enhancement of the programme, alongside engaging in research that aligns with the school’s research culture.
