Job description: Job Description Summary We are hiring for an experienced Warehouse & Logistics Leader to cover maternity leave until the end of 2024,.
In this role you will lead a team of warehouse and logistics professionals to ensure the operational alignment with customer delivery targets, site production schedule, and inventory/cycle targets while meeting/exceeding multiple Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
You will partner with the site Value Stream Leaders and Material Leader to determine optimal inventory levels, cycle times, and provide logistics support to meet internal and external customer schedules all while utilizing LEAN principles.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure the warehouse operates at peak efficiency, with internal and external customer satisfaction being the primary goal, by supervising, organizing, directing, and training warehouse team members and establishing, monitoring, and managing operational goals.
- Supervise daily activities of the warehouse, including quality insurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service.
- Utilizing Daily Management techniques, enable the warehouse team to solve day-to-day operational issues to reach short- and long-term performance goals.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by proactively engaging the team and making Safety a priority, always.
- Optimize inventory/Cycle-time and process improvements to enable a 2 turns improvement per year.
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all customs operations activities and special programmes including Duty Suspension, Valuation Activities & HTS Classifications.
- Lead and drive improvements in current Customs regimes seeking further financial opportunities.
- Lead and execute internal and external audits to ensure compliance in line with HMRC/UK Government regulations and guidelines and GE Customs Enterprise Standards.
- Maintain internal quality procedures for team and support both internal and external quality audits.
- Manage budget and associated spend related to packaging and freight, driving cost reduction projects where possible.
- Using LEAN principles, own and improve material Visual Management within the warehouse operations.
- Lead Sustainability initiatives supporting the reduction/optimization of packaging materials.
- Refine and implement Standard Work for the Warehouse and Logistics team
- Key Metrics: Turns improvement, Incoming/kitting/shipping Cycle-time, Productivity, On-Time-Delivery, HMRC compliance adherence.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject and/or experience in complex Manufacturing Operations.
- Materials, LEAN, Project Management, and/or Logistics, experience a plus
- ERP functional knowledge
- Demonstrated LEAN leadership including implementation of Standard Work, Daily Management, and Visual Management tools
- Role required to be on the Cheltenham campus during the workweek, with some end of quarter weekend support required
