Our client is offering an exciting opportunity for a warehouse and logistics operative to join a very well-established company based in Burscough (L40).

The Warehouse and Logistics Operative plays a vital role in the efficient functioning of our logistics operations. Responsible for handling various tasks related to the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, the operative ensures that the warehouse operates smoothly and meets productivity targets as well as having a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

Goods Handling:

• Receive, inspect, and record incoming shipments.
• Efficiently and safely move, stack, and store goods within the warehouse.
• Accurately pick and pack orders for dispatch.

Inventory Management:

• Conduct regular stock checks to maintain accurate inventory levels.
• Monitor and report on stock discrepancies, damages, or shortages.
• Assist in maintaining organized and accessible inventory storage.

Order Fulfilment:

• Pick and pack orders in accordance with customer requirements.
• Prepare goods for shipment, ensuring proper labelling and documentation.
• Coordinate with logistics partners for timely and accurate deliveries.

Quality Control:

• Conduct quality checks on incoming and outgoing goods.
• Report and quarantine any damaged or non-conforming items.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures.

Equipment Operation:

• Operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, safely and efficiently.
• Conduct routine equipment checks and report any maintenance needs.

Health and Safety:

• Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the warehouse.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment to prevent accidents.
• Participate in safety training and follow proper procedures for hazardous materials.

Communication:

• Effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
• Report any issues, delays, or discrepancies to the relevant personnel promptly.
• Assist in maintaining clear and accurate documentation.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process improvement within the warehouse.
• Collaborate with the team to implement efficiency-enhancing measures.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience:

• Previous experience in warehouse and logistics operations is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience with inventory management systems is a plus.

Skills:

• Ability to operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling goods.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

• Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

The Warehouse and Logistics Operative will primarily work in a warehouse setting, with exposure to various environmental conditions. This may include temperature variations, noise, and the need for personal protective equipment.
