Role purpose:

The role of a warehouse operative is varied and dependent upon the shift they are assigned to. However, the warehouse operative’s function is generically the same and may cover the following tasks or roles: Goods Inwards, Put Away/Replenishment, Picking/packing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to each departmental supervisor, to ensure that his/her work is completed to the correct standard and in a timely manner
  • You must ensure that you adhere to the relevant procedures and processes in regard to our ISO accreditations. The processes are job specific and laid out in Sharepoint
  • You must perform your role, working to and ensuring the highest standard of safety as laid down in the company health and safety policy. Whilst also paying particular attention to the warehouse operating procedures, risk assessments and Traffic Management Policy specific to the National Distribution Centre
  • You must ensure that all dangerous occurrences and any damage to plant and machinery are reported to line management
  • You must ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained throughout the warehouse
  • You must ensure that a high level of focus and awareness is demonstrated with regard to security of both the site and the stock holding
  • You should ensure wherever necessary that all paperwork is completed accurately
  • You should ensure that any problems or issues are effectively communicated to the relevant supervisor
  • You should maintain a good working relationship with your colleagues and promote a team-working environment
  • To undertake Health and Safety activities commensurate with post and or SCC Group Health and Safety Policy

Skills and experience:

  • Must be computer literate
  • Be competent in using wrist-mounted scanning equipment
  • Ability to attain all SC Clearances
  • Possess a good work ethic and communication skills
  • Experience in a warehouse environment preferable but not essential
