Job title: Warehouse Shift Manager

Company: Sainsbury’s

Job description: Job Description:

Late Shift

Salary range: £42,000 to £47,000

Why join us

Are you looking to be apart of a high performing team? Our Hams Hall depot broke a high number of site records in 2023.

You’ll make big decisions and tough calls, and benefit from the high profile that brings. Let your talent shine, where you will play a vital shift management role that will help ensure our store shelves are packed full of everything from toilet rolls to prosecco to yoghurts – whenever they’re needed.

If you’re looking to stretch your skills to lead and inspire a large team of colleagues, including other leaders, and be accountable for the smooth running of the operation, then make the move to Sainsbury’s.

What you’ll do

As a senior manager, you will have a proven ability to lead, engage and inspire a large multi-functional team. You will act as a role model and encourage, empower and trust your team to deliver results. With the strategy outlined, this is the time to execute it right across the depot under your leadership and guidance. You’ll work in a highly unionised environment, understand the importance of health and safety and the benefits of building positive, mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders and third-party logistics teams. You’ll work collaboratively to people manage all warehouse activities on your shift across multiple functions to optimise processes and capability.

We’ll also rely on you to bring a leadership approach that promotes an inclusive culture, leading to high levels of trust that can drive a high performing team whilst meeting targets. You’ll enhance the way people and teams work together with clear lines of accountability and implement an action-oriented and continuous improvement way of working.

We want to keep on developing a culture that will make our site a place where our colleagues are proud to work at and feel that they can make a difference.

Who you are

You’re a go-getter who believes in visible leadership – rolling up your sleeves to get the job done yourself, if that is what it takes. You will have had exposure to a unionised environment as you will be required to work collaboratively to implement change. Your hands-on style will be about empowerment, not micro-management, and you’ll be aware that a role like this focuses on people and treating them inclusively so that they can enjoy what they do. With experience of working in large scale operations, this is a great opportunity for an individual who wants to progress.

While having Logistics knowledge is desirable within fast moving consumer goods, we know working in a large retail role you might have transferable skills that will be just what we are looking for. Previous transport experience could also be advantageous.

What’s in it for you?

  • Discount card – provided after 4 weeks and gives you and a second user 10% on most items in Sainsbury’s, Argos and Habitat. Throughout the year we regularly increase discount at Sainsbury’s and Argos to 15% as an additional benefit.
