Fixed term to 30 July 2026

Starting salary from £28,929 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £35,308 per annum 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Wellbeing Adviser (Disability) to work as part of the Wellbeing Advisory Team at the University.

Our Wellbeing Advisory team offer specialist student-centred advice and guidance to students with a wide variety of physical and sensory disabilities, temporary disabilities and long-term health conditions. The service works with students both in person and remotely. 

You will play an active role in the promotion of wellbeing within the student and wider University community which will include:

  • Ensuring students’ needs are met under the Equalities Act, setting up Reasonable Adjustments, ensuring access to support under Disabled Students Allowance and internal needs assessments
  • Identifying support needs and reasonable adjustments required by students and facilitating delivery of those requirements
  • Undertaking case work with individual students and providing advice to academic and other staff to enable students to access their courses and the wider opportunities offered by University life
  • Liaising with external agencies in relation to student needs
  • Delivery of training workshops to key staff and awareness raising sessions 

You will have a relevant professional qualification or experience in a comparable role. Experience working with adults with disabilities including assessment, risk management and brief intervention is essential. You should also have the ability to build effective working relationships, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and emotional resilience. Experience of working with adults in Higher Education, knowledge of equality legislation and Disabled Students Allowances would be advantageous. 

This full-time post is available immediately on a fixed term basis to 30 July 2026 to cover the secondment of the current post holder.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service, including a check of the Child and Adult Barred Lists. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or vulnerable adults.
