Job Description
Are you interested in helping our learners achieve their full potential? Oaklands College is home to one of the largest SEN provisions for students aged 16-24 in Hertfordshire.
The Supportive Learning department supports young people with a range of additional support needs and disabilities, including students who present with conditions within the autism spectrum range.
A teaching opportunity within the “Pathway 1” provision has arisen for candidates interested in working with young people with additional needs. This programme is designed for those students who may find acclimatising to the environment and expectations of college challenging. These students can have a range of disabilities such as: Down syndrome, Autism and/or autistic traits, global delay, fragile X. Students may also present, or have presented in the past, with behaviours that have been perceived as a barrier to learning historically. Students may have complex communication support needs and need extensive visual support and scaffolding in order to access their education in a meaningful manner.
The programme is a combination of community and classroom-based activities designed to meet the needs and provision stated within students EHCPS. Students will typically be working at a range between Entry Level 1 and Entry Level 3.

To be considered for this position, employees need to hold a Level 5 teaching diploma (or be working towards), experience of working with young people with complex SEND would be preferable.
